How many Haryanvis actually own private jets, and who are they? It sounds like a simple question. Search the internet and you will find plenty of names of wealthy businessmen, politicians and celebrities sitting inside luxury aircraft. But there is a problem with many of those lists.

Being photographed in a private jet does not necessarily mean that the person owns it. The aircraft may belong to a company, a family business or could simply have been chartered for that particular trip.

So, instead of making another generic rich-list, we looked at publicly available business and aviation reports to find the Haryanvi private jet owners and personalities whose connection with private aircraft can actually be supported by credible sources. The result is a much more interesting story.

Naveen Jindal: The Jindal Group’s Private Aircraft Fleet

One of the strongest names in this story is Naveen Jindal. Born in Hisar, Haryana, Jindal is the youngest son of industrialist O.P. Jindal and is closely associated with Jindal Steel and Power. His connection with private aviation is not based on a photograph or a social-media claim.

In an interview with SP’s Aviation, Jindal himself said that aviation was a vertical in some of the group’s companies and confirmed that Jindal Steel and Power Limited had three aircraft in its inventory.

The aircraft included a Global Express BD 700, Citation 560XL and Citation Grand Caravan C208B. Jindal also said the group operated airfields and helipads at some of its plant locations. Reason was largely business.

Jindal Steel and Power had industrial operations spread across different parts of India, and business aircraft allowed executives to travel between plants and other locations more efficiently.

This is an important detail when discussing Haryanvi private jet owners. evidence establishes that Jindal Steel and Power owned the aircraft, but it does not mean that all three jets were personally registered to Naveen Jindal.

So, the accurate description is that Naveen Jindal was the head of a Haryana-based business group with a documented corporate aircraft fleet.

K.P. Singh: The DLF Billionaire With a Gulfstream

One of the strongest names we found is K.P. Singh, the veteran real-estate businessman associated with DLF. Singh has a deep connection with Haryana through DLF’s massive presence in Gurugram, which became one of India’s biggest corporate and real-estate hubs under the company’s expansion.

More importantly for this story, his private aircraft was reported by multiple business publications. Business Today reported K.P. Singh as the chairman of DLF Group and listed his aircraft as a Gulfstream IV, with the aircraft valued at around ₹170 crore at the time.

Rediff also reported in 2010 that Singh owned a Gulfstream IV and described it as his private business jet. Business Standard similarly included K.P. Singh among India’s super-rich jet-setters and reported that he owned a Gulfstream IV.

The aircraft itself was no ordinary plane. The Gulfstream IV was designed for long-range business travel and could carry around 14 passengers. So when people talk about India’s early generation of billionaire private-jet owners, K.P. Singh is one of the clearest names connected to Haryana’s business world.

There is, however, an important point: these reports are from the late 2000s and early 2010s. They establish historical ownership, not necessarily what aircraft Singh owns today.

Gopal Kanda Has a Different Story

Gopal Goyal Kanda is another name that comes up when Haryana’s private aviation history is discussed. He entered the aviation industry with MDLR Airlines, which started operations in 2007. His rise in business and politics eventually made him a familiar name in Haryana.

In 2009, India Today reported that Kanda travelled to Delhi in a private jet with BSF security after he claimed that there was a threat to his life. That report establishes his use of private aviation at the time, but it does not necessarily prove that the aircraft was his personal property.

The distinction becomes even more important when looking at his later public asset declarations. His 2024 election affidavit does not show a personally declared aircraft, so calling him a current Haryanvi private jet owners would go beyond what the available evidence supports.

Kanda’s story is therefore better understood as part of Haryana’s aviation history rather than as proof that he currently owns a private jet.

Baba Ramdev Has Also Used Private Aircraft

Baba Ramdev, who was born in Haryana, has also been associated with private aviation. During the high-profile events surrounding his 2011 campaign, Reuters reported that he travelled by private jet.

His name can therefore appear in online discussions about private aircraft, but once again, travelling on a private jet does not tell us who owns it.

The aircraft could be chartered or operated through a company or another arrangement. Without clear evidence of personal ownership, it would be unfair to present him as a confirmed private-jet owner.

Subhash Chandra: Another Haryana Business Giant

Subhash Chandra is another major businessman who belongs on the research list. Born in Adampur, Hisar, Chandra went on to build the Essel Group and founded Zee TV. His connection to Haryana is well established, including his later representation of the state in the Rajya Sabha.

He has also been linked to private aviation. During the COVID-19 lockdown in 2020, ThePrint reported that an application involving Essel Group/Zee Media chairman Subhash Chandra was among requests from wealthy Indians seeking permission to return to India through private charter flights.

But once again, the evidence is about private charter travel, not personal ownership of an aircraft. Therefore, Chandra should not be presented as a confirmed Haryanvi private jet owners without stronger ownership evidence.

Problem With Haryanvi Private Jet Owners Lists

This research also explains why finding the exact number of Haryanvi private jet owners is so difficult. There are three very different situations: Personal ownership: the aircraft belongs to an individual.

Corporate ownership: the aircraft belongs to a company but may regularly be used by its promoter or chairman. Chartered travel: the person simply hires an aircraft for a particular journey. A photograph can look exactly the same in all three cases.

That is why simply searching social media for Haryanvi businessmen with private jets would produce a much longer list than the evidence actually supports.

So, How Many Haryanvi Private Jet Owners?

After checking publicly available reports, the answer is not a neat number that can responsibly be published as a list of current individual Haryanvi private jet owners. What we can establish is that Haryana has produced business families and personalities with significant connections to private aviation.

The Jindal family has one of the strongest documented cases. Jindal Steel and Power has publicly confirmed ownership of multiple aircraft, and Naveen Jindal himself discussed the group’s aviation operations. Gopal Kanda had a documented history of private-jet travel and an aviation business, although current personal aircraft ownership is not established.

Baba Ramdev has been reported travelling by private jet, but the available reports do not establish personal ownership. Subhash Chandra has also been associated with private charter travel, but we did not find enough evidence to call him a confirmed Haryanvi private jet owners and K.P. Singh, although strongly connected to Haryana through DLF and Gurugram, is best treated separately because the question here is specifically about Haryanvis.

Haryanvi Private Jet Owners Real Surprise

The surprising part is not that wealthy people from Haryana have flown in private aircraft. It is how difficult it is to prove who actually owns one.

Haryana has produced some of India’s biggest industrial and business families. For companies operating factories, offices and projects across different parts of the country, business aircraft can be a practical tool as well as a luxury.

Jindal family’s long-running aviation connection is a clear example. At the same time, famous photographs and reports of private-jet travel do not automatically turn every passenger into a private-jet owner.

So, how many Haryanvis actually own private jets? Based on publicly available evidence, we cannot responsibly give a definitive current number of individual owners.

But one thing is clear: Haryanvi private jet owners are a much smaller and harder-to-verify group than internet lists make them appear and perhaps that is the real story.

The next time you see a Haryanvi businessman stepping out of a private jet, don’t just ask how much the jet costs. Ask one more question — does he actually own it?
