Rhea Chakraborty has opened up about how the controversy around her after Sushant Singh Rajput’s death affected her family. While speaking to Farah Khan for her YouTube vlog, Rhea said her father, Indrajit Chakraborty, once lost a hospital job after people found out he was her father.
Rhea said her father had been offered a job as a medical superintendent at a big hospital. But things changed after people learned his surname and connected him to Rhea. She recalled being told, “Aap Rhea Chakraborty k father ho toh”, meaning he could not work there because he was Rhea’s father.
For Rhea, this was one of many problems her family faced during a very difficult period.

Sushant Singh Rajput died in June 2020. His death led to a major investigation and intense media attention.
Rhea, who was dating Sushant at the time, came under heavy public scrutiny. She was questioned during the investigation and later arrested by the Narcotics Control Bureau along with her brother Showik Chakraborty in a drug case linked to the investigation.
Rhea spent time in jail before getting bail. She has spoken about those days in past interviews and said the experience had a major effect on her mental health. Her family also remained in the spotlight throughout the case.
CBI Closure Report
Years later, Rhea got some relief when the Central Bureau of Investigation filed its closure report in Sushant Singh Rajput’s death case.
The CBI did not find evidence to support the allegations against Rhea in connection with Sushant’s death. For Rhea, it marked a major change after years of facing questions and public criticism.
