While Ankit Bidhan successfully captured the biggest crown, the overall election proved that PU students think differently. Rather than giving a total sweep to one single party, the student body split their power across the council:

  • Vice-President: Won by Armaan Singh Bhinder of PUDF with 3,322 votes.
  • Secretary: Won by Independent candidate Dhyan Singh with a massive 4,045 votes.
  • Joint Secretary: Taken by another Independent, Vishal Bamal, with 3,506 votes.

This means while ABVP safely commands the president’s chair, Ankit Bidhan will be leading a uniquely diverse council representing different student mindsets.

From Jind To PU Chandigarh

There is something worth noticing in Bidhan’s journey. He started out in Jind, moved to Chandigarh for education and spent years becoming part of Punjab University’s student politics. Now, he is leading its student council.

For Haryana, Bidhan becomes another young face making his presence felt outside the state and for Punjab University, his first year as president will show what comes after the election — when campaign promises meet everyday campus life.

The votes have been counted. Now Ankit Bidhan’s real chapter at PU begins. Follow Peddler Media For More Updates | Instagram | Facebook | Youtube | Pinterest
