Divesh Khatana is a Hisar-based lyricist, singer, and composer from Haryana. He is best known for writing RX 100 — the Haryanvi song that crossed 36 million views on YouTube and became a cultural anthem during the 2020 lockdown.

He belongs to the Gujjar community of Haryana and has been writing music since his college days in Hisar, where he studied briefly at CR Law College.

Today, Divesh works as both a lyricist for other artists and as an independent singer releasing his own music.

RX 100 — released on November 1, 2019 through T-Series Haryanvi — is the song that put his name on the map, even if most people didn’t know it at the time.

The song was sung by Raj Mawer, with rap by Kaka, starring Vicky Kajla, Harsh Gahlot, and Akaisha. The lyrics were written entirely by Divesh Khatana.

It crossed 3–4 million views initially, then exploded during the 2020 COVID lockdown when TikTok users across every district of Haryana started using the song — replacing the second line with the name of their own city. Mahendragarh. Rewari. Rohtak. Every version, the same beat.

“Main khud confuse ho gaya ki yeh kya ho raha hai,” Divesh told Peddler Media.

RX 100 now has over 36 million YouTube views and counting. The lyricist’s name was always in the credits. Most fans never noticed.

Divesh Khatana is from Hisar, Haryana. He grew up in a local neighbourhood in the city, attended a Haryana Board school nearby, and later enrolled at CR Law College, Hisar.

His music roots come directly from home. His father kept a full wall of cassettes — Bindrakhia, Nasibo, Babbu Maan — and ran two audio systems in the house. His mother was an avid listener of Gurdas Maan. The music was always on. Divesh just stepped into it.

Both — but his strongest skill is writing. Divesh told Peddler Media directly: “Main lyricist achha hoon. Main ga ke bhi kharaab kar raha hoon apne bahut saare lyrics jo kisi achhe singer ko de dene chahiye the.”

He spent years figuring out where he fits best. He has written songs for other artists, performed his own music, and is now working toward building a production setup — where he can guide newer Haryanvi artists on both the creative and business side of music.

What Is Divesh Khatana’s Real Story?

Divesh grew up in a Hisar neighbourhood that he describes without hesitation as one that was quietly falling apart. Drugs had hit the area hard. Friends he had grown up with were changing. Social pressure — the kind that uses loyalty as a weapon — was real and constant.

He survived it by going inward. Staying home. Teaching himself video editing on Windows Movie Maker in 2008 and 2009, matching Haryanvi audio to English video clips just to see if it worked. The kids on his street noticed. He became the mohalla’s unofficial content creator before that word existed.

The person who kept him steady through all of it was a family member he calls Aatam — a name he has tattooed on his arm. When Aatam died, something broke, and writing began. Not for an audience. Just to put the weight somewhere outside his body.

“Andar bahut saari cheezein hain. Log samajh nahi rahe. Log dekh nahi pa rahe unko.” That grief became the foundation of everything he has made since.

What Happened After RX 100?

First taste of recognition changed him in ways he wasn’t ready for. Relationships fractured. Teams dissolved. A version of himself that he now describes as “woh main” — the ego — pushed good people away.

For nearly three years, Divesh was largely alone. No incoming calls unless he made them first. No messages unless he sent them. “Wahaan mujhe pata chala — tu zaroori nahi hai duniya ke liye.”

He came out of that period slower, more self-aware, and more focused. He started writing again — not from ambition, but from understanding. The music he makes now carries that weight differently.

What Is Divesh Khatana Working On Next?

Divesh is building toward a production and mentorship setup for independent Haryanvi artists — something he has been calling HUM (Haryanvi Underground Music) with collaborators including Aman Jangra and Rokhri.

The goal is practical: new artists from Haryana who don’t have money, connections, or industry knowledge should have somewhere to go. Divesh wants to be that place.

He also had a clear message for young artists in Haryana when speaking to Peddler Media:

“Bahut saare yahan pe fraud chal rahe hain. Ek time period mein cheezein kar lo toh aapko royalty milti hai. Aware raho.”

The Haryanvi music industry has scams. He has seen them. He does not want the next generation to learn that lesson the hard way.
