This Ambala Girl Started a Cafe in Class 10, Now Makes Rs 1.2 Crore Revenue Annually

Cafe Beings Ambala has become the city’s go-to specialty coffee spot, and it’s run by a 19-year-old. Amanat Tuteja started the cafe while she was still in Class 10, and today her two outlets together bring in an estimated Rs 1.2 crore a year, while she finishes her BBA online.

Her cafe isn’t just about coffee either. It runs on a simple line — have a cup, save a pup.

How the Idea for Cafe Beings Started

Back in 2022, Amanat’s mother, a serious coffee lover, couldn’t find good espresso-based coffee anywhere in Ambala. The closest proper option was all the way in Chandigarh.

That gap became the idea. This Ambala girl launched Cafe Beings with her elder sister Chahat, right when she was in Class 10 and Chahat was preparing to move to Vancouver for higher studies.

Once Chahat left for Canada, Amanat took over the business completely, running it as a full-time co-founder alongside her studies.

A Cafe With a Bigger Purpose

The sisters didn’t want just another coffee shop. They wanted Cafe Beings to stand for something. That’s where the tagline came from — have a cup, save a pup.

Every month, a share of the profits goes towards rescuing, treating, and feeding stray dogs across Ambala. Six to seven local volunteers help run this on ground.

From Rs 12 Lakh Investment to Two Outlets

The first outlet opened with Rs 12-15 lakh from family savings. It had just five tables and could seat around 20 people.

The response was way bigger than expected. Customers loved the look of the place, clicked pictures, posted them on Instagram, and became the cafe’s biggest promoters without any paid marketing.

Within a year, demand pushed the sisters to open a second, bigger outlet in 2023 with around Rs 25 lakh investment, funded partly through a loan and partly through profits from outlet one.

Balancing Board Exams With Running a Business

Running a cafe at 15-16 years old wasn’t smooth. Amanat had zero experience in the food business and had to learn inventory, staffing, and menu building on the go, often through YouTube.

Getting people to trust specialty coffee in a small city like Ambala was another challenge, which is why the menu expanded to include food too.

Staff turnover was constant, and being taken seriously despite her age added to the pressure. Over time, she built a stronger team and brought in experienced managers to run things smoothly.

What Makes Cafe Beings Different

Cafe Beings now runs two outlets, one in Ambala Cantt and one in Ambala City, with upgraded double-head espresso machines and a bigger seating capacity in the newer branch.

From specialty latte art to wood-fired pizzas, Cafe Beings Ambala blends coffee culture with a full food menu

The menu includes coffees, shakes, pizzas, sandwiches, and burgers priced between Rs 150 to 300. The standout item is a momo recipe made without maida, MSG, or vinegar, positioned as safe even for kids and pregnant women.

Staying true to the animal welfare angle, the cafe also pushes vegan options like tofu instead of paneer and coconut milk as a dairy alternative.

Training the Next Batch of Baristas

Noticing how often cafe staff quit across the industry, Amanat started her own in-house barista training academy. Batches of 4-5 students learn coffee brewing, latte art, and inventory management over 30 days.

After training, students get three months of hands-on floor experience at her outlets. It solves two problems at once — trained manpower for her business, and real skills for local youth looking for cafe jobs.

How Cafe Beings Makes Rs 1.2 Crore a Year

Cafe Beings runs on a pure B2C model, built around Ambala’s local youth and college crowd. The two outlets together bring in a combined daily footfall of 65-70 bills, translating to an estimated Rs 40,000-45,000 in daily sales.

That adds up to a monthly revenue of Rs 8-10.5 lakh, which scales to an estimated Rs 1.2 crore annually across both outlets.

What’s Next for This Ambala Girl’s Cafe Empire

Amanat now wants to take Cafe Beings beyond Ambala, expanding into the NCR region through a franchise model. The entry investment for a franchise partner is set at Rs 12 lakh.

But there’s one non-negotiable condition for anyone who wants to open a franchise — they have to genuinely care about animal welfare and commit a share of profits to the cause.
